Hi Lumion staff,
I have a problem that I can't resolve.
I have a 3d model with a wooden roof made of several 3d wooden beams
Doing the animation when the camera is near the roof I have no flicker, the beams are distant 20cm to each other, at 30 meters about I have a lot of flicker.
How can I resolve it?
best regards.

Gabriele be sure you don't have two different materials or you have imported your model with it two faces, this could be the problem

oh yes!...
all my model is double faced...:(

It happend to me the same thing with the models of the roof tiles when I importing by Collada and it fixes import by FBX. The archive resoulting from the exportation is much bigger that the collada but resolve the flickering and the tones. Also Lumion notes that change the tones of the original model, rinsing them. By FBX the colors and tones are exactly the same.
One thing more, It happend only in a big model, when I work in a house by example, don´t makes flicker the Collada File.
Sorry by the Spanenglish

Hi Nicolas and Gabriele
the reason which is more aparent in bigger models is due to there are a lot of triangles to be procesed. So if you have all your model double faced this increase a lot the rendering calculation and the flicker appears, depending the graphic card quality it will be more or less apreciated on the final movie.

The bigger the model should have no effect on flickering as you described. If it is a moire effect, it is nothing to do with coplanar surfaces etc...wikipedia can explain Moire better than I ever could though. If you have coplanar surfaces (or near enough) then the flickering is more visible when the camera is furthur out due to lack of accuracy in the z-buffer at that distance.
EDIT: Forgot to say, if it is coplanar surfaces, you can possibly compensate by adjusting the depth slider (I think) under the material property of one of the surfaces.

I don´t know if this will be a flicker, but I referred to this when I exported from SketchUp using Collada.
