Title: My wishlist :)
Post by: Member48750 on July 10, 2012, 11:27:32 pm
Hi everyone !

First of all I would like to congratulate all the Lumion Team about that Great and revolutionnary Software.
To help you improve it, here are some points of my wishlist.

-Add a Stretch setting for Objects.
-Add a Symmetry / Mirror function for Objects.
-Allow Shader Editing for Objects' Library.
-Make Parallel Views (for Masterplan and 2D views for example).
-Add a ON/OFF button to control all the lights in one Click.

Thank you !

Thank you for your ideas, unsuns06.

-Add a Stretch setting for Objects.

Do you mean a scale function along a single axis instead of uniform scaling along all 3 axes?

-Add a Symmetry / Mirror function for Objects.

Do you mean for imported models? If so, can you give me some examples of situations where this function would be useful?

-Make Parallel Views (for Masterplan and 2D views for example).

The developers are keenly aware of the fact that it isn't possible to create proper axonometric views + elevations and cross sections in Lumion.

Ferry actually carried out tests earlier this year but was discouraged by the initial results.

Anything that relies on "projection" will not function correctly if you try to use an orthogonal camera, so the shadows and the ocean were no longer visible. There were other problems too, for example fog not working anymore, but I don't remember all of the details.

Hello !

1- Yes I mean a possibility of non uniform deformation tool for a songle Axis.
2- I mean by Mirror / Symmetry, a similar function to sketchup's flip along function, along X,Y or Z axis. That might be useful for many situations ! (for example )
3- I hope they would succeed in making parallel views !
4- What about shader editing for objects ? Is it on for the next release ?

Thank you !

What for me would be a great help is "replace objects by"  . Most for trees. Often I have loads of trees as an object in a max/cad file. If I have to place manually every tree that will take o lot of time, espacially along roads, because that has to be precise. In max/cad you have a lot of tools like spacing. I think this would be hard because importing, makes one object of the imported. Maybe there would be another way, replace element or locus.

Groetjes,
Vincent

Can you explain what it is you hope to achieve with this sort of functionality?

If I may, I'd add making groups and a scene inspector would be nice.

I struggled with my first and only project so far because I had placed 2 identical meshes of a huge terrain in my scene. One of them being under Lumion's terrain, I couldn't see it...
Lumion was nearly non responsive and it took me a while to identify and solve the problem.
I must say I almost failed to render my project in time because of this.

As far as turning the lights on and off, a quick solution is to move all the lights object to one layer and enable/disable it.

I mean for Both Imported models and Lumion's Object Library.

Shader editing might be much more interesting than simple colors for sofas for example, it would probably be more realistic !

Can you post an example of how you would want to edit shaders? Are you talking about a node-based user interface as in the material editor in UDK?

I mean for a sofa object of Lumion's Library, you can only apply a standard shader with a different color, wich isn't really realistic when you make a render. A textile shader or leather shader would make it much better, don't you think ?

I simply suggest to make the shader icon available for Lumion's own library, to be able to edit those shaders like wood or metal for legs etc...

The mirror function might be quite easy to make, take a look to 3DS Max's function, it's really simple and incredibly efficient !

yes, an editable matrix in the import section could help a lot, since skp or other 3 d progs have fantastic functions for placing objects ( place along curvers with defined distnce for ex).
why doing that jobs twice?
so while importing a project a list would appear where you can select imported objects and define a lumion- object for replacement. heaven, that would be great!
this list would be saved like the list of materials, so a reload would not be a problem ( of cource lumion would have to check, which objects are already existing). surely no prob for the programmers.

Hi ron_ADST, I'm not totally sure I understand what you mean?

Are you aware of the following?

Excerpt from an old post:

Photo mode will "inherit" the settings/effects of whatever mode you were in before you clicked on the Photo button.

Bearing this in mind, you'll have to create the look you want in the Movie section and then go to Photo mode to render an individual still image with all the effects intact.

an other one.

More options for Transparent materials. I'm trying to make polycarbonat. I'm not happy about the result.

And an other one.

I have imported a car. Made it nice with logo's of our company. I save the thing. ADST_car

Now I want to use that same car with different logo's. So I save it as CCP_car...... I know that does not work but it would be great. You get the point I think.

And an other one.

Could it be possible to make content where the user could put logo's on? - Car's - Air balloon's Flag's and banners? You name it.

Especialy the flag's and banner's would be great.

Thanks for your request for an option for saving multiple versions of an imported model.

TIP: If you want to avoid importing and applying materials to the car again, the only way is to manually copy + rename the model files in My Documents/Lumion 2/Library. Then restart Lumion and replace the texture on the new copy via the Standard material texture tab.

thanks for the tip. I will use that.

And sorry.... Where is the official wishlist? - I was looking for it but I'm never very good in finding those kind of things.

Hey ron_ADST, it is available for customers with a license attached to their forum account. However, we realise that this isn't ideal for those of you who are using someone else's license in an office, so you basically have to post your suggestions in the General Discussion area.

As I see it the licences are connected to my account. (I did that myself)

Ah good stuff, so you've just hidden your Lumion icons then :)

In that case, the Wist List section should appear near the bottom of the main forum page:
http://lumion3d.com/forum/new-features-wish-list/ (http://lumion3d.com/forum/new-features-wish-list/)

Can you click on this link and let me know if you end up in the Wish List section please?

http://lumion3d.com/forum/new-features-wish-list/ (http://lumion3d.com/forum/new-features-wish-list/)

If so, it means that everything works as expected.

TIP: You can show/hide Lumion icons at the bottom of your account settings:

If you bought the license relatively recently, Arthur might not have added your icon yet, so I'll need to remind him about this tomorrow.
