Hello,
This is my first post(dont know if im posting in the right section), i got curious about Lumion, and tried it, I AM VERY IMPRESSED BY ITS SPEED!!! alltough i didnt buy it right away i am still trying to figure out if its worth it( its really fast but but that realistic), I have a couple of question:
*can Lumion work with 2/or more graphics cards?
**if it does, is there a big improvement in performance?
thanks,
Daniel

Hi Daniel,
unfortunately no, not as of yet. I haven't heard or read if it's in the works or not but to be honest. It's a fantastic program as is.
obviously there always room for improvement :P

hi, interesting question....
i just bought a new workstation with saphire 3gb-graphics, which can be doubled itself (cascade)
would this constillation improve the performance ?
i have 4 x 8 km - city model in lumion, 2 x 2 km terraformed space (which is lumion - limit at the moment) and lots of trees and birds, big ocean bay etc, performance in editor still perfect, but rendering a video is about 16 sec. per frame. could this be improved with the graphiccard - cascade?
regards stan

Applications that do support 2 GPU cores (such as the 2 x 680 GPUs in the GTX 690) basically use 1 GPU core + 50% of the onboard ram for rendering frame 1 and the 2nd GPU core + the next 50% ram for rendering frame 2, and so on and so forth.
Unfortunately, you will not see any significant performance gain with 2 graphics cards, since Lumion doesn't perform any better with 2 GPU cores. And due to the ram mirroring, you will only benefit from half of the on-board RAM.
For that reason, we recommend that you get the fastest single-GPU-core card that you can afford.

How about using powerful GPUs like Tesla for rendering?
i have a quadro in combo with a tesla for Vray RT,.. i understand that the RT in lumion will only want to use the quadro, however, is it not possible to access the tesla for faster rendering? right now it doesnt seem to want to?.. i am new to lumion so perhaps there is a way to select which GPU to use for rendering (similar to the option in Vray RT)?
thanks

Hi roboto, I don't think anyone has used a Tesla card with Lumion, so do post your results if you can get it to work.
