Title: "Device/driver does not support hardware shadow maps!" message
Post by: Member54175 on June 13, 2012, 04:49:44 am
Hello,

I just recently discovered Lumion 3D and downloaded the free trial of the latest version. Because I use an iMac, I use VMware Fusion for all of my Windows specific programs. So, I was surprised to find that I was unable to start up LumionFree 3D in Windows. Instead, this message popped up "Device/driver does not support hardware shadow maps!" and the program "quits unexpectedly" soon after. I have tried restarting the program multiple times (and my whole computer) but each time I get the same message and then the program quits. I AM running Windows 7 on my iMac and the specs for the iMac are as follows:
Processor: 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory: 16GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Chip model: AMD Radeon HD 6770M
VRAM (total): 512 MB
and I have 1.75 TB available on my hard drive.

I would appreciate any help as to how I can get this program working and/or suggestions as to what I need to upgrade in order for Lumion to run on my computer.

Thanks!

It will work on your iMac if you run Lumion via Windows bootcamp, it works also via Parallels but then its slow. In bootcamp you get full performance of your hardware.

I guess VMware does not support all videodriver functions and thats why you get that message.
