Title: regarding ies
Post by: Member1766 on May 31, 2012, 01:55:57 pm
Hi,
I would like to upgrade my Lumion copy.
I would like to know if exist an utility to import all ies photometrics data. I work for a lighting company.
Does Lumion use ies as 2d map or it reads its 3d values?
Ho many lights can I insert in a scene?
Can I orient ies lights?
Can I use asymmetrical ies? Up-down ies emitters?

Regards

No, it is currently only possible to use pre-made IES lights in Lumion:

No, the IES lights in Lumion use a 2D map only, so the cone will be symmetrical.

How many lights can I insert in a scene?
That depends on your hardware, so the best way is to download Lumion Free and test this on your PC. Turn on real-time shadows by pressing F8. You can also make them use static shadows which means that you can include more lights (Edit properties -> 128/256/512).

Can I orient ies lights?
Yes (Move/Rotate/Target).

Can I use asymmetrical ies?
No, we only have symmetrical IES lights in Lumion.

Up-down ies emitters?
No, the current IES lights are limited to 180 degrees, so you would have to use 2 separate lights (1 up, 1 down).

Thank you Morten,

I've just upgraded my license to the Ultimate.
I noticed that tomorrow the Ultimate will disappear from the store, why?

BTW, I hope you will integrate a system to create our ies maps
Working me with lighting stuff I would like to see these features related to the lights:

A) Possibility to add a sort of projection map (gobos)
B) Animation of light intensity.
C) Possibility to create a dummy in 3ds Max that will be recognized in Lumion as light. I want to be able to rig mi light source to the light body.
D) Possibility to simulate volumetric lights
E) Interaction of fog with lights

Regards

The developers of Lumion have changed the product range and pricing policy in order to ensure the long-term future of Lumion. From today, you will notice that there are 2 products in the store:
Lumion and Lumion Pro

http://lumion3d.com/specs/ (http://lumion3d.com/specs/)

Lumion Ultimate 2 owners will still receive free updates until Lumion 3 is released in late 2012. By then, Lumion Ultimate will be discontinued and you will have to choose whether you want to upgrade to Lumion 3 or Lumion Pro 3 if you want to continue to receive updates (Alternatively, you can just continue to use Lumion Ultimate 2 after Lumion 3 is relased)

BTW, I hope you will integrate a system to create our ies maps

I'd be grateful if you could copy-paste these suggestions to the Wish List section so that your suggestions don't disappear among the posts in the General Discussion area.
