With these 2 cards in SLi mode:  can i render a scene in lumion (with 690) and at the same time working in my modeling app(AutoCAD)(Quadro 5000)

I reckon you mean non-SLI mode?
You can try but I don't think it will make for a very stable setup.

I thought SLI meant assigning a card to an application and the other card to another application.  So anyway, there's no way i can let Lumion render and doing something else at the same time with the oher card????????????So i would not lose my PC while it's rendering.

For SLI you need 2 identical GPUs ;-)
SLI doesn't work for Lumion, which is odd but not important now.
You have 2 different GPUs which will mean they will both fight over some bandwidth
on your motherboard. Complicated story, also not important now.
You can do simple stuff like browsing, emailing etc. but for using 2 heavy programs
on a single PC, where one is rendering (Lumion), my guess is it's not going to work very well.
You can always try..just don't expect much :-)

Thanks, you seem pretty sure, so i won't spend $2000 on the Quadro 5000 and $900 on a GTX 680, i'll just stick with my present card which is a Quadro 4000.....and not bad at all.

Thanks
