Title: set heights for painting landscape deforms
Post by: Member1607 on December 22, 2010, 11:59:19 pm
Is there a way to set specific elevtaions to max out on when deforming landscapes so you could easily create flat pads for structures or be able to paint level roadways? for example, set brush elevation at 3 meters and then paint over a rolling landscape and it will both cut through hills and fill in the valleys?

Not at the moment no. However, the flatten tool can get you there, albeit with a bit of practice :-) If you have difficulty getting a feel for the size of what you deform in the landscape, I'd advice to 1st drop in a object that has dimensions you can estimate correctly to some degree. Then create your 1st heightbump which should be big enough for the flatten-tool to get a good grab. Switch to the flatten tool and slowly move it outwards to let it level the terrain for you. Note: If you notice the flatten tool has difficulty getting a grab or it switches do a different height, all depending on the complexity of your scene and landscape, try switching to a top view. Also experiment with the brush speed. Dont put it on max for this kind of work.
