Not yet but you can build your own library in the import section.

I don't think the Lumion Staff are ever going to be able to satisfy the growing demand for library objects. Sooner and hopefully tomorrow, they will realize the way forward is to create a repository of shared objects, made by users for inclusion into their own libraries, much like Maxwell does with its material MXM library.http://resources.maxwellrender.com/news_scripts.php?t=4 (http://resources.maxwellrender.com/news_scripts.php?t=4)
If you want to grow your base of users, and cash flow, your going to have to tap the resourceful nature of your faithful users which by their enthusiasms for the product are dying to make a contribution..... its a no brainer!

@remko
It would be very nice to be able to create our own libraries.

I have discovered if I add folders under
user\Lumion 2\Library\
ex.
user\Lumion 2\Library\cars\
then 'Cars' shows up as a TAB under import library.

But the TAB keeps being empty, even if I copy objects from the default folder to this folder.

Is it a bug, missing feature or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks

There are several things we can improve on that area like adding your own materials and adding models to the object library. I was thinking we should work towards a system which imports models into your project by default and give you the ability to store them permanently into a library. This way you always have a complete project with all models and you can even have several versions of a model by saving a project multiple times. One huge drawback though is that currently saving projects takes up little space and takes very little time. If we include the models the project files get bigger and take more time to save.

Maybe a combination between the current method and a new one would help.

1. You can save a project and it will pack all the models with the project for you.
2. You can save an extra version of a project and it will save the project file but the model files will be saved between versions.
3. You can tell an imported object to move to the permanent library so you can use it in other projects.

Maybe #2 is not needed because saving does not take that long anyways and you can always delete older versions of a project if you need more space. Nearly all programs save projects this way so why shouldn't we?

What I would like:

A
Build our own library - automatic created by scanning a defined (in settings) folder (and subfolders?)

B
An option to save an projectfile, anywhere we wont - that contains everything, models textures etc...

Somehow keep it simple :-)

I think the current file browser us much better than the standard windows one but maybe we can make something so you can add tabs so you can have a different location under each tab. You could have one tab for dropbox, one tab for network drive etc..

remko, please, i did not find any answer to this question: my subfolder is also empty,so is this a bug or how do we have to copy imported models (max. 4 files per model, right?) into a subfolder in the library folder ?

i purhcased some 3rdparty dae's and would like to have them available in different folders

thank you,
stan

EDIT: please read mynext post , i found a way to put objects in subfolders....
