Title: Realtime Revit render
Post by: Member21342 on January 20, 2012, 04:38:56 pm
I was thinking. Why cant you make a Realtime render tool... or incorperate your tool into Revit.

The realtime Render tool in Revit is slow and bad. The Realtime rendertool in Lumion, fast and not so bad.
The bad thing about lumion is that you need to import your building into this software... and then go back to the Revit and change... and then update it again.

The best thing would be if we could Edit our building in REVIT and at the same time Lumion would be handling the Realtime graphics.

ask them for a Ferrari.
Why can't they just give you one?

I need a flying Ferrari with Lumion built in. That way I can fly around in my flying Ferrari (using a 3d mouse, of course) while simultaneously texting and animating fly-throughs in Lumion. So, why doesn't Lumion Ultimate come with a flying Ferrari? Is that really too much to ask for?  :-D

Flying Ferrari (with all the bells and whistles you mentioned Darbo) WITH a Supermodel in the passenger seat.  Can we all have that too?

I would like too. If Lumion can integrated directly to softwares, that's dream come true.

This is old videos of Furryball for Maya, now is V2.3. The 3:00 is amazing:
FurryBall - Realtime GPU render for Maya (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZcePx5V2qL8#ws)http://furryball.aaa-studio.eu/tutorials.html (http://furryball.aaa-studio.eu/tutorials.html)

I think Revit built-in is quite far for current Lumion strategies. For now, you may want to ask here:
http://www.lumatix.com/atrium-designer/ (http://www.lumatix.com/atrium-designer/)
Lumatix Atrium Designer Demo at SIGGRAPH 2011 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBuxp3PrDGY#ws)
Since it integrated with Mental Ray which either Revit/3DS Max have.

Thanks,
Ming

You may want to know that atrium designer is on sale for 49 euros direct from the website. Trial available for download. It looks good from my initial tests but I'm still a Lumion fan.

It's a render plugin, there plenty of them around.

Different kettle of fish.  Lumion is a different type of tool to a render plugin.

If they integrate to say Revit or Max, then what about all the others who don't have those tools?

I would also expect they would then have to spend all their time maintaining the integration and keeping up with the changes in those tools instead of providing new features and functionality that can be used today.

Yes, 800 Euros to 49 Euros sale is very convincing, may buy one just to play around ;)

I did and I'm not very happy with it so far. I've been testing it with some very basic scenes and it just isn't working consistently. It's too early to make a conclusion though and I'm not replying here to rip it; just making a cautionary note.

Thanks for sharing your experiences. I don't see you rip it, is in useful informations. We need straight opinions to make our workflows, tools and softwares better.

I will find time to play with it before buy.

Thanks,
Ming

I found the trial to be simple to install and use, very fast but realised that it doesn't support proxies so my Bionatics plants confused it. It did seem to work with the billboard ie low LOD but it would mean changing the settings of every plant added for the final render. Atrium Designer is something that I think we shall see more of in the future and maybe in a different guise.

Its going forward in the plugin renderers.. but in my fast search on the internet, i could not find a render plugin for Revit. And the little I know of... Revits renderer is a quite timeconsuming horse.
