Title: The Animation Plugin
Post by: Member3846 on December 20, 2011, 05:25:25 am

Hi there,

Is there somewhere on the Lumion web site that tells me what extra animation features I get, than Animation Basic, if I purchase the Animation Plugin?

Regards,

Yes, there's a brief list on:

http://lumion3d.com/specs (http://lumion3d.com/specs)

Animation plug-in

Animation import (move/rotate/scale animations via FBX files)
Advanced animation (Curved animations, multiple keyframes)
    Animated cross section
    Sky Drop effect

"Advanced animation" is a new effect in the Movie section. The old "Animate objects" effect in Lumion 1 has been renamed to "Basic animation" since it only supports animations from A to B in a straight line with start and end position/rotation/scale keyframes.

In the future we will add animating light colors and maybe materials to it.

It would be great if we could animate objects like smoke to simulate a travelling ship or a steam powered train.

The current smoke is an in place effect. That makes it possible to have the same smoke when you load your scene. When smoke is emitted by a moving object it needs to stay in place and that is a different kind of particle system.

Hi Ferry,

Many thanks for the detailed description of the Advanced Animation plugin. On the matter of the animated smoke etc. effects, it should be possible to animate (move) this.  Other software have done this and at present I rely on Blender to make such scenes.  If you want to have loyal and powerful software, you need to overcome this (IMHO) opinion, otherwise Lumion will remain simply for the narrow, specialised expertise of architects only, and your sales will reflect this in the L/T.

For me to use Lumion solely for my Lusitania project, I need to have animated (moving, smoke otherwise I will have to remain using Blender, and in so doing, hope the viewer will not detect the difference in rendering.

respectfully,
