Title: Lumion texture management
Post by: Member2528 on June 30, 2011, 10:46:39 am
Hi. How well does lumion manage texture memory usage? If several imports use the same texture, is this texture only loaded once? Or does this only apply to multiple objects within one import? My machine doesn't have a lot of memory on the gfx card and I will be importing several objects, all using the same large texture. As low mem mode causes poor texture quality (even when rendering) I want to turn low mem mode off but I am concerned that I won't be able to if every instance of this large texture is loaded for every object.

Lumion automatically identifies identical textures in the built-in object library, so that only one instance is loaded in memory. I don't know for sure if this functionality extends to user-imported objects, but I'd be surprised if it didn't. Ferry will be able to shed more light on this question though, since he created the texture manager.
