QUESTION
How do you add a texture to the standard Glass material?

ANSWER
It's not possible to add your own texture to PureGlass materials, so you'll have to use a standard Glass material if you want to add a texture.

To add a texture to a standard Glass material, you need to assign the texture to the model in your 3D modelling application.

Then import this model in Lumion, assign a standard Glass material to it, set the Texture Influence slider to the maximum value and adjust the Transparency and Reflectivity sliders to your liking.

Please note that you can include a transparency mask in the Alpha channel of the texture if it was saved as a 32-bit PNG, TGA, TIFF or BMP texture. That way you can make some parts of the texture more or less transparent than others.

Here's how:

1) If you're using Adobe Photoshop, please click here to see how to add a transparency mask.

2) Once you've added the transparency mask to the texture, please click here to see how to save it as a 32-bit texture in PNG, TGA, BMP or TIFF format.

3) Then open the model in your CAD software and add the texture to the relevant material.

4) Import the model in Lumion, assign a standard Glass material to the glass surface, set the Texture Influence slider to the maximum value and adjust the Transparency and Reflectivity sliders to your liking.
