QUESTION
Will Lumion run on your laptop PC?

ANSWER
Lumion requires a PC with a fast Nvidia or AMD graphics card with at least 2GB memory.
If your laptop PC has a slow graphics card with less memory or if it only has an Intel HD graphics card, this laptop PC is unsuitable for Lumion. The result is graphics errors and driver crashes if you try to use Lumion anyway.

1) Some laptop PCs are equipped with two graphics cards - a slow Intel HD card and a faster Nvidia or AMD graphics card. Please have a look at the specifications of your laptop PC to determine the name of the Nvidia or AMD graphics card.

2) Once you have located the name of the Nvidia or AMD graphics card, please verify that it has at least 2,000 PassMark points and 2GB memory by typing in the name in the search field in the top right corner of this website. If it hasn't got at least 2,000 Passmark points and 2GB memory, you will be unable to use Lumion on this laptop PC.

3) If it has got enough PassMark points and at least 2GB memory, and Lumion crashes or exhibits artifacts when you try to load a scene, it is most likely still using the slow Intel HD card in Lumion.

4) To fix this problem, please follow these instructions, depending on whether your laptop PC uses an Nvidia or an AMD graphics card:

NVIDIA CARDS:
a) Right-click on the desktop and choose Nvidia Control Panel.
b) Manage 3D Settings -> Program Settings tab -> Add -> Locate Lumion.exe in the folder you installed Lumion in.
d) Select the preferred graphics processor for this program -> High-performance Nvidia processor.

AMD/ATI CARDS:
a) Click on the Windows Start button and select Programs
b) Click on Catalyst Control Center
c) Click on Power and select Switchable Graphics
d) Choose Lumion from the list or browse to select an application and assign the AMD card
e) Start Lumion

After making the change to the dedicated Nvidia/AMD graphics card, the Lumion Benchmark report will continue to show the Intel HD graphics card as the one used in the test. You can safely ignore this. However the benchmark score should now be significantly higher which will indicate that the correct graphics card is used.
