Hello,

I'm working with another graphist using 3DS Max...

What kind of settings does he has to export from Max to fit the best in Lumion?

units? geometry? what are the best settings? Have i to use .max or collada or something else?

i don't find any tutorial about it  |:( :-\

for the moment, when i import the .max file in lumion, i see a big empty box and when i click somewhere to place the project nothing appear!

thanks
Djé

Use meters as units, and export to DAE with the latest version of OpenCollada.

You can also export lightmaps if you place those textures in the Self-Illumination slot.

Possibly but there's only one way to find out for sure...

Try exporting the scene to DAE with the latest version of OpenCollada:

Ok it's better!

i see the geometry now!

but i don't see the textures... My client seems to not have a folder containing textures when exporting with "opencollada".

I don't know 3DSMax enough to help him to find why he don't have a texture folder!

Maybe there is an option he missed when he export the model...

thanks for your help

Hi Dje, you need to tell your client that the Collada and FBX exporters require that you:

1) Convert all materials in the scene to Standard materials in 3DS Max. If your client is using any other materials than the Standard material (eg, Vray, Architectural, Raytrace materials etc), the models will remain untextured in Lumion.

2) Assign a diffuse texture to the Diffuse Color map channel. Any other texture map types will not be included (for example Specular, Opacity, Bump etc).

3) Use one of the following texture file types for the diffuse textures: .jpg, .tga, .bmp, .tif, .png, .dds.

4) Include an opacity mask in the alpha channel of the diffuse texture if required (use a 32-bit .tga or .png texture). Then apply a Standard material to the surface in Lumion, and set the Reflection or Clip slider to maximum, so that it uses the alpha channel in the texture as a clipping mask.
