Thumbnails below when switching from movie mode

I need to generate a few stills from a movie sequence. I noticed that when switching from movie mode to photo mode to preserve the effect settings, there are thumbnails below the larger picture.
What are these, and how do I use these?
Can I use this to preserve still image viewpoints?

Hi Lars, if you select a clip and go directly from the Movie section to the Photo section, Lumion will show a few thumbnail images from you clip. If you click on one of them, you will be able to render it as a still image.

If you go from Build mode to Photo mode, it will however show the up to 10 saved custom camera viewpoints (Search for "Save & load camera viewpoints" on this page: http://lumion3d.com/forum/f-a-q/lumion-2-tips-tricks-and-shortcuts/)

So are these pictures/thumbnails random images from the movie sequence?
Can I decide/control what images are displayed there so that I can use them as stored/saved still image views?

offtopic: It's been awhile since I've posted. I noticed my icon status is still not updated. We are using Lumion 2.2 ultimate for a while now.

hello,
i made some test with this function:

edit >> photo >> movie:

the whole scene can be passed thru to a movie, which is a dream (capturing the actual mood / feeleing / whatever)

unfortunately lots of settings (like ambient shadow) transported are still controlled by the setting in the editor:
means: making a video after copying a picture from editor to movie and changing settings afterwards in the editor CHANGE THE VIDEO...
it seem, that lot's of setting are not copied permanently to the video-effect-sections

maybe an idea for the future?

movie >> photo : i dod not find out, if you can define exactly, which video-frame is saved to a thumbnail....

the lumions surely know better...

regards stan

No, the images are generated automatically based on the length of the clip that was active before you went from Movie mode to Photo mode.

I've forwarded this to Arthur - he says it should work now.

You need to use effects for the Weather settings (although not all Weather settings are available as effects yet).

See my reply to Lars above.

?? re based on the length of the clip; probably means the same thing, but it looks to me as if they are the keyframe camera capture photos that are taken when creating or editing a clip, so each keyframe of the clip is a photo generated for photo mode.

This would seem reasonable as they are keyframes, and if the user needed any other frame of the video then they would select that frame in the scrubbar for the whole movie or for the clip, and proceed to Photo Mode from there.

Sorry, you're right, Peter - I interpreted his question as if he wanted to override the generated thumbnails in Photo mode with additional custom views from the clip but without changing the keyframes.

As you said above, the only way to modify the thumbnails in Photo mode is to add/change/remove keyframes in the clip.

Apologies for the confusion I may have caused :)

hi everybody,
as this post deals with the video - editing:

1. in my videos (now 15 in the project) in some videos the last frame of the previous video appears as the first frame in the next video, which ist a bit confusing, when the end of video 13 is dark (night) and the next one starts dark too.

any experience known about this problem?

2. tonight a calculated a video. in the result, a strange thing happened. on two positions (near to start and near to end, the light changes more rapidly, then it should ( a visible "step", not a flesh). there are only to markers for the effects at startframe and the endframe, so this cannot be a reason.

has anybody the same problem?

3. and for the wish-list: shift + leftmouse moves scroll threw video-editbar (frames) quicklier

4. for wishlist 2: left click ABOVE a frame selects the frame for a screenshot

thanx

As Stucki said, that bug should be fixed in the latest version of Lumion. Would you mind zipping+uploading the 2 Scene files (they're located in Documents/Lumion/Scenes) and letting us know which clips are affected?

If you upload the scene files, can you tell me when it happens in the video? (Post the position on the timeline in seconds)
