i am playing around with sp6 a little bit and noticed that shadow quality is a little worse than in sp4
is this intentional or a bug ?
in sp4 the shadows in the near surrounding have been sharper and i didnt touch anything ...

If you mean the SSOA shadows they have changed a bit. You can tweak the settings in the advanced weather menu probably.

If you mean the shadow maps shadow is different then please post a difference shot.

here are two screens, one before the update and one after the update.
the change in the white material is because you changed the fresnel and i had to compensate.

the shadow of the tree on the right lower part of the pictures is much sharper with sp4.
and i am pretty sure i didnt touch shadow range settings ... ???

i cannot see much difference here either.
so if nobody else has this happening, it must have me sleepwalking and tweaking the shadow range . :-D, or to much drinking - but i even cant remember drinking last night ....

I believe there was an old bug with shadow filtering in an old service pack. It only showed up on the standard material. It might look sharper in a final image but up close it does not look nice. Apart from this nothing has been changed for the shadow in the latest updates.
