Hey all, has anyone seen or tried Vue 10 by e-on software?

http://www.e-onsoftware.com/products/vue/vue_10_infinite/?page=1

looks interesting. dude in the office is experimenting with it. We checked it out a version or so ago... looks like its been growing.

i think it is important to discuss competing software here so we know where the industry is going and what features and functions are becoming main stream.

we have discussed others before. i would like to keep a list so we can keep tabs on whats shaking out there at a glance.

what do y'all think?

Hi robert, we use Vue 10 Xtream, and many here also do. What you need?

Just curious about exactly what it is and how it functions. Is it a very complex interface compared to Lumion?

Vue is a very good landscape creation software and even an exterior archvis software, not great with interiors IMO even though they have been making inroads into better radiosity settings.

The great thing about Vue is everything is customisable from atmospheres, ecosystems, terrain brushes, plants (which I really like the plant editor), Vue has fantastic animation tools even wind can be animated, all in all Vue is brilliant except for one thing....it's slow, rendering a 1 minute animation with good atmosphers and lots of terrain will take days and not hours and it does not have any realtime tools, runs off CPU, so you will need to farm off animations.

Pete,

these are some really nice renderings.  Did you say you did all of the terrain and vegitation within Vue?  What is the interface like within Vue?

Yes all Vue, very easy with the terrain tools, I also import .DEM terrain contour info.

The user interface is simple enough and basic material editing is straight forward, however the function editor (advanced tools) is node based and will take a phd in chaos theory to master.

Pete,

These are great. Are you planning to (or did you) transfer them to Lumion?

I have not, I do have a few new projects lined up for the new year, one which I believe Lumion may be perfect for is a Cayman investor proposal.

Pete,

I see there are about 1000 different products?  I cant seem to disifer the difference between all of them?  What is the software package you need?  I see architectural with a SU exporter?  Is that all?  Or do you need the full package?

yes. very confusing. looks like Vue 10 is a very professional toolset for creating high poly natural environments...or something like that. It is not RT and takes a ton of timer to render according to others who have used it.

They also have an RT Sketchup plugin, called LumenRT. I havnt looked into much.

I have used Vue 9 Infinite for a while, but defer to Lumion for most things due to speed and ease of use.  Vue's best qualities are its atmospheric possibilities, it's ecosystem population process and control, and it's selective rendering (only rendering what is seen by the camera).

If Lumion were to integrate the ecosystem process and selective rendering I can see no reason to ever use Vue again.
