In the future could we create our own shaped lights - a light emitting material?
Could Lumion be able to do that?

What I do is use the old trick to make the Rectangle glow and put a light coming off it.. You cant tell the difference...

A randomly shaped light would be very difficult.

We can however add more light shapes but for many of them casting shadows would be difficult or impossible.

Make a simple rectangle in your modelling application, paint it with a simple color and export/import it to Lumion. In Lumion, edit the material properties and make it emit light (it's a so called "fake emitter" as it does not shine that light on anything).

Now add a Lumion light into the middle of this and that will shine the light (but remain "invisible").

The result is shining light seemingly from a rectangular area.

Thanks Gaieus!

If we can add the an extra ability to materials to disable shadows this would work really well.
