Hi Everybody!  :)

I have a problem with Lumion.

I created many trees in my Lumion scene. In preview scene, the trees at the far positions from the camera had been auto-hiding: disappeared on the scene (I'm not impact anything with them). I don't know why they're happened. A friend of mine told me that Lumion is auto-hide the trees to make the file not too many objects so the program can work. I wonder about that information.  :-\

Yes! The trees are auto-hiding, and when I set up the camera (moving, shooting some scenes,...) the trees has showed them on the scene, one by one (!!!) - like ghost  |:(

I don't want those things are happened, my video could not complete because the trees are auto-hide, then auto-show them on the scene  :(.

So, any Ideas to fix this problem, dude?

Now, I'm using Nvidia 540M video card.

Thanks for your attentions and your helping.

Hi nguyenkts,

Lumion uses Speedtree as you probably know.
Speedtree indeed 'auto-hides' trees from a certain distance of your camera.
These LOD-versions as they are typically called will eventually not show up at all in your viewport if
they get far away from the camera.
However, they are still there when you render your movie!
Are you saying that when you rendered a movie, you didn't have all the trees showing up?

thanks for your answer, Aaron.

Yes, My problem is: My rendered movie haven't all the trees. First, they're disappear. then, They're appearing one by one, like the things I saw in the viewport when I creating camera.   :'(

Ah ok, thanks for clearing that up:-)

You could do a simple test:

-New scene
-Make a line of trees at intervals *you can choose the distance that you think you need*
-Place your camera at the 1st tree of the line (slight angle so you can still see all the others).
-Now make a render and/or a short movie.

If you see all the trees then that's working fine.
Try that 1st.
Oh and are you using low-memory mode as a setting? Might also help.
You can also play with the quality settings to see if this at least makes all the trees appear in the movie.
In the end it's probably a memory issue but lets have a look and try if you can still work around it :-)

I have been working on an extremely large scene (have just posted in the gallery) and the same happens in working or preview mode. However (as far as I can tell), when exported, the trees are all there - although of course a certain level of detail applies here too (as well as with shadow details and such).

I guess without this it would not be "Speed"-Tree (and Lumion would freeze to death or at least not render a video at the same speed it does now).

Lumion would indeed freeze to death.
I tried this once with Onyx grasspatches. Fun on 32-bit.
With a whopping 250K per patch I was suprised how flexible Lumion handled it for a while.
Untill it just crashed of course :-)

This could be a problem with the Speed tree library. The billboard manager of Speed tree gets confused when there are too many trees. For final render this does not matter and for close by trees this also does not matter but it's still annoying for distant trees. We are still looking into this problem.

Well, I can understand (or at least imagine, lacking the proper technical abilities) that not displaying trees is sort of helps maintaining real time performance so I have no issues with it really (just have to be more careful).

I rather have Lumion flawlessly running than being able to see everything (within a couple of square kilometres) in real time.

Oh yeah, It's work. Now I can see trees in my movie, thanks for your helpings, dudes  :)

Anyway, Hope that Lumion will fix this problem as soon as possible, so we can work easily. I mean:" An object didn't show in the viewport could make some mistakes when set up the movie".  :'(

Thanks again.

Hmm, and this problem didn't occur in Lumion SP1?
