Preview of all objects, materials, etc.

Hello there,

Is there anywhere we can look at screenshots or a full list of all the families/objects/light sources/materials available in the basic and Ultimate versions?  I'd like to know if there's a linear light fixture available and not just point lights. As well if there's a good amount of industrial objects as most our architecture work is done in the technical industrial field.

Thanks,
Lorne

Hi Lorne, here are the thumbnail images of the models that are included in Lumion 2 Ultimate (in addition, there's a bunch of new models in the latest version, such as American road signs, more indoor plants and some vases, planters and plant pots):

What sort of technical/industrial models do you need?

No, only point lights so far.

Thanks that's a great link.

It's a bummer about the linear fixture lights, we design a lot of cove lights in ceilings and really need to show that off.  Are there any tricks to fake it for now?

At the moment, there are 2 different light types in Lumion:

1) Point Lights (30 built-in IES presets with shadows, max 180 degree cones)
2) Ambient lights (360 degree lights that don't cast shadows)

Your only option is to add these light types and adjust the properties until you're happy with the result (I assume you're already evaluating Lumion 2 Free).

As for the glow of the actual fixture, you can add a Standard material it and crank up the Emissive slider to make it glow (as you've probably already seen in the Gallery section).

Morten,

Thanks for the quick responses!  I'll play with those light tricks, I'm currently exporting the exterior test video to show my coworkers.

Also as far as the industrial models we would need are people in Nomex or hardhat construction workers.  Even laboratory equipment.  I've actually brought in some models straight from sketchup of smoke stacks, etc and added the smoke up top and it looks pretty darn good.  I don't know if these models are in the library (have yet to look through those screenshots). The biggest one for us is the linear lights, but as I said I'll play with your suggestions.

Would you guys help make these models for future releases?

Thanks,
Lorne

There have been a lot of requests for more "regular" animated 3D people (eg, people sitting down, people with props etc), so people in Nomex and hardhat construction workers would unfortunately be rather low on the list of priorities.

We do have a couple of static 3D silhouette people who wear hard hats though but I guess they'd be of limited use to you.

Well people sitting at a desk typing is also high on our list as we specialize in Control Room and Building Design.  So our interior control rooms are the most important space in our designs.

How do new objects get updated?  Do you release them to install into current version or do we have to wait for Lumion 3 to receive updates?

Thanks,
Lorne

The Model Library is updated in batches every now and then. Updates are free until Lumion 3 will be released in late 2012.

In the next batch, we'll have another bunch of interior models, furniture, PC monitor + keyboard + mouse and so on.

We've got plenty on the To Do list though...

I'd like to add some aircraft and more ships/boats but they take a while to create.

Animated 3D people also take a long time and are very costly for example. We are currently working on improving both the quality of the 3D people as well as the pipeline in order to speed things up.

Models that require a bit of programming to get to work typically also take longer to integrate. Examples are picture frames with custom textures, TVs with custom movie textures and of course lamps (We still need to figure out how to make it possible to prevent lamp geometry from blocking the light).

Another thing that we need to resolve is drivers/passengers in vehicles (left vs right-hand driving makes this more complicated, since the steering wheel and the driver would have to be mirrored).

Hello Lumion team:
L2.1-B3 By the time all the bugs fixed?
We tnemos to wait for next week?
We can work with L2.1-B2?
We rely on a fairly stable version to the next L2.1-B3?
Pardon my uncertainties, but as I said yesterday, I have to start working with lumion very long and I would like to make a decision.
Can anyone help me?
Admit any suggestions.

Greetings to all

All the releases are really stable but each build adds some minor improvements. Build 3 is online today. You can just use that build an upgrade later if there is a new build.
