Possibility to update a library object

Hi again me with a question,

from the beginning of my possesion of Lumion, I started to create a library with 3d objects I often need in 3D projetcs. At the beginning I did the error that I put the middle / pivot point of the objects in the middle of the world exis, what had the effect that the people stuck in the floor when I dropped them into my scenes. I corrected the models and overwrote the open collada models. When I press reload in the material section in Lumion everything is  fine again. But I now have the problem, that allways when I drop these older models in my new scenes, they are again stucking in the floor and I once per scene have to press reload for these models. Isn t there the possibiliy to update the library itself, without having to reimport the 3d model in the library and delete the old icon in the library?

King regards, great work!

One method is to start delete the file start Lumion and reimport with the same file. Then load your scene. The filename is stored in your scenefile.

Which file shall I delete? The lib and inn files in the library directory with a furniture for example, because I already overwrote the dae, this one is correct, it is only not updated in the library (in my scenes it is also already updated)? And then reimport into the library? I hoped that I don t have to reimport all the old objects I created the 2 first days of my Lumion life... Cry

Only update the .lib file.

So:

1. go to the Documents\Lumion\Library folder

2. find the model name which is incorrect like mymodel.lib

3. delete only that file.

4. start Lumion

5. start empty scene

6. go to import and import your model again and provide the EXACT same name mymodel

7. load your scene that used the old mymodel.lib

To be sure make backups of the folders so you don't accidentally break something permanently.

will do, so I have to reimport all the models again (because in this time I prepared already about 20 library objects), well I know it was my mistake...Cry

but maybe that would be a nice option to have to update the library or parts of it by just clicking one button.

Well if you re-import in the material section that does the same thing of course.

yes it does, but only for this special scene, if I drop my library element in a new scene, I have the old problem again...

That is weird since re-load model should also save it again in your library.

no it doesn t.

To make it clear. I have a scene with a swimbath. For this scene I prepared seperate furnitures and billboard people. I adjusted the collada models of this models and overwrote the old collada files. When I opend the swimbath scene, I still saw the old models. I then clicked reload for the different models in the swim bath scene and then the furniture and so on were correct in the swimbath scene. I saved the swimbath scene. Today I added one of this models (a tabble with four chairs) to city scene, when I dropped this object in the city scene, the furniture stuck in the floor. I clicked the reload button in the material section  and the model is correct! And that is the point. I don t want to allways click reload whenever i have a new scene and I insert the corrected model. You understand my problem? I will do some more tests if that happens also with other modified objects, or if that occurs only with that one.

Well what you describe is impossible since reload stores its result in the original file.

There is no substitute for original file or something similar. So there must be something else.

Only thing I can think of is that you imported your model into your own library more than once.

And the other copies will stay old until you press reload on them once. Can this be the case?

you are right, that was my fault, I did forget to reload 3 objects and just with two of them I did the last test, now it is working great, sorry!
