Hello there,

I come back to you for a (problem again) noobish question :P
Keep in mind that maybe i missed something or so... flagellate me with a bamboo!
-> Is there a limitation for polycount in lumion with still images ?
I explain...

here you can find a screen of the scene i'm working on :

I admit it, this is a high poly budget scene.

When i hide buildings layer, the scene comes out properly (email format 1280*720 jpg or desktop bmp) with only ground and vegets.
When i hide only buildings on the right, the scenes comes out properly too.
When i hide only main building in the center, the scenes comes out good.

but when i unhide all buildings layer, so with entiere scene, its comes out with black image as a result.
And i don't have this problem when i render it as an animation.

Maybe it's a fake problem but... any idea why this comes out like this ?

Sounds very much like you might need more RAM.

What is your hardware configuration, e.g. system RAM, graphics card and onboard memory, Windows 32- or 64-bit?

Only the 64-bit version of Windows lets applications such as Lumion use more than 3.5gb of system RAM.

I imported a 6 million triangle mesh without problems. took some time and happend by accident because i misses to turn off a turbosmooth modifier but it worked nice in lumion. ;)

I more wonder how many vegetation models are supported before I hit a limit...

hum...i play with a i7-870, 6Go Ram with quadro pro 600 1Go, windows 64bit.
dunno if 6Go Ram is enough or if it comes from the cgcard.
I've think about the ram problem, but i can make animation, so i guess a still image isn"t a problem.

I think i'm over the 6M and I've no problem when i import, i"ve placed them on different layers, i can hide some  when i flytrhough. ('cause its jerky sometimes and i think this is the cgcard here)

I think my models are optimized as much as possible, and as the animation work well, its why i ask for still image.

In and of itself, i don't need the still images for this project, i just do animation test with huge modeling.
This one is really huge so i think i'll can make some architectural demo without any problem in the future but maybe my computer reach his limit on it, and this is good to know before buying Lumion.

What is the 'ideal" config if i decide to take Lumion and have a dedicated computer ? i saw about the nvidia Gtx models... Sli config ? around 12Go ram ? a war machine so... :D

Quadro cards often seem to cause problems in Lumion. In order to determine if this particular problem is caused by your graphics card or by Lumion (since it only occurs in Photo mode) it would be great if you had a different card lying around that you could test the same scene with. If this is not possible, you'll have to upload the scene files and all the library files, e.g. to DropBox, and send me the download link so that I can try rendering a still image on my PC:
morten [at] quest3d.com

The files are located in the Documents/LumionFree/Scenes & Library folders respectively.
