.

Hi, new guy here and I've been devouring the forums and playing with the demo for a while.

I have a question yet, it seems in a lot of threads ppl asks how X thing works or what does it do. I wonder if it's some kind of manual in the website we can download and have everything explained in one place? It took me a while to understand what the "align" command does or that the "same heigh" command refers to the shape of the ground. There are like lots of tidbits regarding each command so... a manual, my wonder ;)

Also, I wonder if there's a way to quickly multiply objects? I was playing with trying to draw like a fence line and it's a pain to do it. I'm an archicad user and all I have to do is use the multiply command and it ask me "how many?" or "@ what distance each?" and bam! Is there something like that here I'm missing?

Thanks in advance!

Yep we need an online manual, the forum is not searchable, so answers get lost.

I know its a work in progress but all the current knowledge in one place would be really, kinda necessary.

We are currently porting to a better forum with a decent search. There we will put everything together again.

Most common asked questions on the forum: http://lumion3d.com/board/gene.....umion-faq/

Note that in general all functionality is in the inline help (hover the questionmark, and hover + CTRL for advanced options) and that there are also 5 video tutorials explaining how to work with Lumion (http://lumion3d.com/tutorials)

Imho, the search option is nice, but a detailed manual is much much better. Sometimes we dont know that we dont know ;)

Uhm, yeah that's the way I use but is there like a way to lock the direction or to enter the angle+distance? Doing it by eye is a bit tedious...

Ha, see!? ;] This is the kind of stuff I didnt know I didnt know. Ctrl while hovering over help! Guys, you should really make a manual. And the software is just really awesome. Huge library according to specs, and the rest is done with Google's 3D Warehouse... Brilliant!

Hi Darius_bd and welcome to the Lumion forum.

1) PDF MANUAL
A PDF manual is already on the wish list:
  • PDF manual/Help file in multiple languages

For now, your best bet is to check out the "Tips, Tricks and Shortcuts" post which I regularly update. Time permitting, I'd like to expand this with a "Best practices" section as well as description of all of the "Modify" commands plus a list of what the Stars in the Movie section entail and so on and so forth. Just bear in mind that this post refers to the latest release of the full version of Lumion, so if you're using the Demo version you'll have to wait until Update 1 "Final" is ready to be released – that's when the Demo version will be updated.

2) PLACING OBJECTS
You're right, it's currently not easy to place objects accurately in relation to each other. Here's an excerpt from the wish list:
  • Absolute/relative values type-in option when moving/rotating/scaling/ALT-copying objects

3) HELP / CTRL
"Ctrl while hovering over help": This is not what Arthur meant (it does look rather convoluted that sentence, I'll grant you that – either way, you *don't* need to press [CTRL] over the Help button. The point was that [CTRL] or "Home" -> "Always Advanced Mode on" will display additional options, sliders and parameters in most sections.
