Lumion 2 - Reflections

yeah I know... same old questions about reflections  :D  but hear me out

I'd like to know where the reflection control options went in Lumion 2. I can't seem to find the controls to reflect 'all objects', or just 'reflect sky'. I noticed that there is a new reflection control feature where you place a sphere in your model... but there doesn't seem to be any options for it..... the reason I even ask is because all my glass only reflects sky (even when rendered)... no trees or other objects... which looks odd if you're model is in a forest or city  ::)

Any comments or tips would be great!
Thanks
C.

Reflection control now is the reflection sphere in build mode. If you do not use it you don't get reflections of your models. If you do use it you get a reflection cube at the location of the reflection sphere. If you want you can animate the sphere (often not needed).

I really do not understand this sphere thing... What about when creating a video?  I read that you have to have the sphere located where your camera would "hypothetically" be.... But, what if the camera is moving?

Is it possible to adjust the sphere if the reflection are unnatural (too big)?
And why there are no reflections in the sun?

These reflections seems hokey...

There are reflections in the sun of course but it all depends on contrast. When there is not a lot of light the reflections are very low in value compared to bright lights so you won't see them. Unless, of course, something bright is reflecting.

You can specify the point of the cube map by adding the reflection object from "Lights and Utilities" category.

For more accurate reflections we should add a special planar reflection material. When you have it you should watch out though because it will need the render the entire scene for every reflective plane you have. It should work in many cases though. With the new render engine we opened up the road to implement a feature like good planar reflections. Should be great for reflecting glass facades and shiny floors :D

Hi Remko

The new options for reflections for me are worst than in Lumion 1, surely 'cause I didn't use it in correct way.

We use in our projects many cristal's buildings and need the environment's reflections on it for show the idea we want to project in each building.

Maybe is in these cases when we miss a good tutorial where find the real powerful of each feature.

I have to admit, the reflections arent quite working for me either.  When i say "working" I mean not as simple, clean and effective.

hi @ all
on these two pictures you can see a very strange effect of reflection
only a small portion of the bottom of the channel is taken into account the reflection of the glass
I think the effect is too big
thanks in advance for your help and your explanations and good New Year to all
2012 will be great for lumion

Soda, I think you should remove the reflective sphere. Stay alone with the reflection of heaven and earth in a very low value. For a reflection like this, better anything.  :-\

Sodapop66, try placing Lights -> Utilities -> Reflection control high above the scene.

Nicolasweh - Congrats on the Lumion contest.  :-D

Lumion 2 uses the same reflection system as 1 - Appears True.  8)

Maybe this can help some.
Cube mapping concept video. (not by me)

Works in a similar fashion in Lumion.
Cube Mapping Demo

See the sphere... and where it maps the cube (i.e Models and sky inside Lumion works like this)
If you play around in Lumion enough you can find and see the Cube!   ::)

IF
Lumion
developers include plane reflection object
(for reflecting buildings off water, allowing for the sexy water features that architects love, mirrors inside rooms, etc)
= Bigger processing in computer (more number crunching)
= Bigger Rendering Times (faster computer processor, i.e brain, helps here)

Can I get a Plane reflecting object in Lumion 1 SP9 that includes bug fixes also?
Billboard Fucked... :P
Or do I just get what I got?

Lumion 2 looks really pretty.  I'm Jealous.   :-X
Adding lights is more work and will take more skill  ;)

Happy New Year Lumion'ers.  :D
