ID Channels + Z Depth +....

Hi Lumion,

I often hear in the Forum that Lumion aims more in direction rendering than realtime presentation (what a pitty I prefer the realtime section in Lumion). What I am than missing is the possibility to render out channels for postproduction, so that I can easily work on the rendering in photoshop or so, like I do ith my other 3D packges. For example the possibility to render a render pass for the diffrent material ids so that I have the masks and can finetune them and stuff like that. A Z Depth and Object ID render pass would also be helpfull. Do you have something like that in mind? Or does it even already exist?

Thx for your great support,

Mischa

Sorry for my bad english, and by the way I alreday tried the spellchecker several times in this forum, it does not work on my pc (IE8 and Windows Vista 64 bit).

We already render the ID's as an image but currently you can't export them. But yes we do want to support outputting more information. Like a non tonemapped HDR image so you can do the tonemapping in other software.

The current version of Lumion will have video output and image output for architects as main focus. That doesn't mean we aren't looking further into the future. As mentioned before we will add interactivity and exe to a Lumion based product. If we call it Lumion or something different has yet to be decided. Since our main problem with Quest3D is that we target everyone and noone feels targeted. So we want to keep marketing message for Lumion clear. If we add all stuff Quest3D can do to Lumion then again we can't give an elevator pitch for our product. Go figure if we add exe and physics and scripting to our base version how do you pitch it.

'Lumion can make interactive game like realtime enviroments for 3d specialists' that is what we want to avoid.

'Lumion is the fastest method of creating images and animations for your architectural visualizations' Already sounds more like targeting an audience.

So expect your Lumion special version but we might call it something different. Maybe even 'Lumion interactive' or something who knows.

ok, so we will have the possibility to crossupdate to the interactive version later?

Probably.

Big chance we have a different pricing for such a version though.
