Hi Andrew, good to hear from you again.

I assume that you're using the latest version of Lumion (SP2 Build 8 ). It is available for download in the 'Customer area'.

The easiest way to place objects randomly is outlined in the Tips & Tricks thread:
http://lumion3d.com/forum/index.php?topic=638.0

Place object mode -> (CTRL) + Left-click:
Randomly place 10 copies of the currently active object library model.

Place object mode -> (Z) + Left-click:
Place a new object with +/-0 to 50% random scale.

In addition to that, you can use the Randomize command:

1) Press (CTRL) + Left-click and drag to lasso-select the objects you want to randomize.
2) Modify object -> Click on one of the circular icons of a selected object -> Transformation -> Randomize -> Rotation/Scale -> 10/20/30%

Is this not working as expected?

Morten,

Is it possible when using random placement to spread the items according to their bounding boxes so that items don't overlap? Build 9? :-D

Is this a limitation within Lumion 1.0 or will 2.0 be free of this flaw?

I don't know if they will change this feature in Lumion 2.
