Just discovered the billboard texture, notice it produces a plane which is always edge on to the camera, maybe its meant to face the camera? presumably its meant for people textures, does it also support movie textures? If so that would be just great.

How did the bilboard option arrive on my computer, wasn't there yesterday?

Have just spent about half an hour trying to place a furniture group inside a building, there appears to be a crazy snapping feature, that makes the objects jump about when they are nearly in the right place, so no undo, you have to start again.

The billboard material was in the update for 2d people.

I am not sure about your snapping. Can you post a screenshot with the problem?

Does the billboard material support movies as textures?

I think I might have a way round the snapping.

If it does support movie textures then it could be used for people, fires, fountains etc, if not then I gather its something thats being thought of, so any idea when? I have a current job that needs a fireplace.

Hi Simoni, we've got 2 entries on the Functionality Wish List that cover this:

  • Video texture with blending (e.g. Multiply, Overlay etc)

  • Video texture with alpha channel (Using the "Quicktime Animation – Millions+" format)

As I think all of us know, the moment you involve computers and new features things always end up taking much longer than expected, so even if we started working on this right now, you might end up being bitterly disappointed if the feature missed your deadline. So… my advice is to never plan your projects / schedules according to non-existent features Smile

Remko will soon begin to organise the Functionality Wish List, so that you can get a better impression of where we are right now and where we want to be in the future in terms of new features.

Oh well, I have got a sort of cobbled together fire working from objects with glow placed inside water objects, these then buried in a log fireplace, will kind of work if its not in the frame for too long.
