Is it possible to generate billboard people, like you have implemented in your software, by myself? I am doing many swim bath projects, so I need many people in swim suits. I can t imagine that you have implemented something like that in your library of the full version (as 3d or 2d). Is it planned to sell extra objects?

We have a feature that lets you set the shader for a model. We have a shader for the 2d billboard people. Currently you can't set the shader anymore with the interface.

So the only way to do it now is by using Quest3D 4.x. You will need to load your model save a cgr put the cgr in the 2d people folder and copy one of the .inn files and rename it to your new cgr name.

Quite a workaround as you can see but we will probably add the billboard shader as a material soon.

Currently not. But I am sure Quest3D people are willing to help you out if you ask on the Quest3D forum. I'll see if i can post a new 2d billboard material here so you can assign that in the material editor.

I created a material for billboard people. Can you please try it out for me?

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/103032.....lboard.zip

Quit Lumion demo.

Place the contents of the zip in your LumionDemo/ArchitectEdition/Project/Materials/Custom folder.

Start Lumion.

The icon is the same as original texture but the name is billboard. Please try it on an imported 2d character.

Let me know if it works!

There's a huge amount of billboard people included with Lumion so we already have the shader for it. We'll try to include a material for it with the next service pack. For now you can mess around with the material above.

Thx for the billboard material. Now my model with the people in swim suits aligns to the camera great! But I have to problem how to tell the program that the alpha mask of the image defines the transparency. I can see the rectangle and not only the photo of the person I wanna see. In the material properties under textures I can see two symbols one shows the photo in color and the second  one shows a black and white image, that must be the alpha channel I assigned to the tif.

Try a TGA with alpha with 1 texture for transparency.

I am using PNG and now it is working!

Now my next question is: I have prepared several billboards. How can I define them as a library, so that I can use them in new projects, without having to import them again and edit the material to a billboard?

If you import them they should automatically be in your library. Use the first icon to be able to select the library (don't use the +)

oh yes thx! I knew that they appaear in the list, but it was not clear to me that he remembers the modifications I do on the materials. When I wanna use this objects on my laptop for a presentation. What do I have to copy so that no texture or model is missing. Would be nice to have something like a archivate button so that I can save a scene with all the librayra stuff and so on on a network or dvd for example, o that I can be sure that I will be able to open the scene for a presentation without any problems.

You only need to copy the Lumion folder in your mydocuments to the mydocuments of your laptop. For a specific project copy the scene file and the library items you use in that scene file from that folder.
