Hi , I am trying to apply a new sand texture to an existing lumion terrain.

* How do I get rid of the tiling effect and make it smooth ? (see photo)
* What is the the difference between custom diffuse and custom normal? see photo

Thanks!!

Without testing not sure how tileable your texture is but, you would need to make your texture a fully tileable texture in PS or other editing tool that allows you to create tileable textures.

There is a new slider top of materials used bar Tile Size, play with that to see if it will get rid of tiling look.

Custom diffuse is your own diffuse selected as you have from files on disk rather than the Library materials.  Custom normal is a normals map of the same texture to provide depth data for Lumion to render textures with more depth/natural looking than is possible with only the diffuse.  You can also use normals maps in the Standard Texture Materials for imported objects.

Search the forum as there is a topic that lists some of the tools used to create normal maps.

Thank you Peterm for your prompt response. I will try your suggestions.... Lumion definetly needs a video tutorial for all the functions available. again thanks for your help, i will experiment a little more. :-P
