If I have 2 screens connected to the card, in this case a GTX470,
¿Could Lumion process renders in one monitor, while on the other, for
example, I am modeling? Have you tried this option? Thanks

We did try 1 card 2 monitors and that didn't work.

What about 2 cards 2 monitors?  Lumion runs on a GTX580 and others (Autodesk software) on a Quradro FX1800.  I've tried to work off of the FX1800 while keeping Lumion active on the GTX580 but I am unable to make it work.  I haven't really looked into the OS side of things to keep multiple windows selected simultaneously.

Is this a Lumion restriction or a OS/CPU restriction?

Untill now we found this to be a GPU restriction. We had to disable rendering while not active to prevent the system from being inoperable.

It stands to reason then if I have a GPU dedicated to Lumion and another GPU dedicated to other apps, then my system wouldn't be so overcome by the issue? (I'm asking)

Maybe but I am not sure if windows is able to switch as good with GPU's as with multiple CPU's. We also didn't try this yet. If you use SLI it is for sure not better. But 2 different cards.. maybe. We will have to try. But for now even the mouse was hard to move while we rendered!

What about hybrid GPU/CPU rendering? I understand that its rather complex to implement but has it been considered?

I wouldn't expect to do very complex stuff whilst rendering in Lumion simultaniously but it sure would be great if you could just browse, mail, text etc.

without Lumion getting cut-off completely.

What about network render, say you have another basic rig with an uber GPU could we not ship it off to that client to render and we continue on main rig as a future feature?

Reverting back to CPU render will probably take the render about 1000x longer to finish. Of course rendering on another machine on the network is possible. People are already doing that but if you wish to continue Lumion work you need 2 licenses.

We will probably first work on some other hot issues before this one though!
