2 materials ???

Is there a way to apply these wave effects with 2 tones of brick (1 different jpg file inserted with an alpha channel) on a gray brick wall.  I made it in Artlantis. The stair effects in the 2 grayscale effects was made postwork.

I need to to it for another project and would like to try it in Lumion

I assume that you want to use your own grey brick texture (not one of the stock materials in Lumion).

If so, you can use 3DS Max to import a model with 2 textures that have different texture coordinates. The first texture (the uniform grey brick texture) needs to be assigned to the Diffuse Color map using Map Channel 1, and the second texture (the wave pattern) should be assigned to the Self-Illumination map using Map Channel 2.

Once you have imported the model in Lumion simply assign a Lightmap material to the model, and adjust the blend sliders to your liking.

O.K so if i don't have 3DS max, it's not possible.

You can probably do it in other 3D modellers, provided that you can export 2 sets of coordinates to the DAE/FBX file.

Can someone try this out for me, been trying for 2 hours with C4D v13 to export as fbx with 2 channels as required, can't even insert the file in Lumion.

Need help please

Thanks

Sure, make a copy of the part of the wall with the wave pattern texture and import this as a separate object in Lumion. Apply a Glass material to it, and align it with the wall (search for "Align" in the Tips, Tricks and Shortcuts thread for more information).

Just make sure the glass colour is white, and Texture influence is 1.

To avoid flickering due to overlapping surfaces, you may have to assign a Standard material to the grey brick wall and adjust the Depth offset slider a little bit (just enough to make the flickering disappear, but no more than that).

Your grayscale( greywave.jpg) it's what, an image file, what extention,  what i have to do (what i did in Artlantis) is moving the wave from left to riget, up and down to adjust it's placement si it would fit exactly where needed.

Nothing seem to work.

greywave.jpg is a screen capture.
The image with gray horizontal lines sure must be a PNG file.

i knew this was a screen capture, what i meant was, what's the extention of the "original" wave file, png, ok, then, how do i apply this to a glass texture......sweet god, it's so simple applying materials in C4D and Artlantis.

Has the png file been applied in Lumion, if so, how can i apply a meterial to a glass or has it been applied before in an other app (like Sketchup or something else), then exported then imported in Lumion.

You really weren't joking when you said you had little patience :)

1) I assume that you have 2 objects in Cinema4D:

Wall -> This is the wall with the grey brick texture
Wall_Wave -> Apply your wave pattern texture to this copy, and make sure it's positioned the way you want in Cinema4D.

It doesn't matter which format the texture is. I used .jpg but you can use any format, and no alpha channel is required. All we're going to do in Lumion is to overlay a texture on top of your grey brick wall, using a copy of the wall with a glass material. For now, just bear in mind that the white parts of the texture will be invisible when we're done with this procedure.

Then export the 2 objects using different names, eg, Wall and Wall_Wave.

2) Import the 2 objects in Lumion.

3) Place the 2 objects in your scene. The Wall object should already have the grey brick texture from Cinema4D. The Wall_Wave object should have your grey wave texture.

4) Assign a Glass material to Wall_Wave using the settings on the screenshot above.

5) Align the two objects.

6) If there's flickering when the 2 objects overlap, you may want to apply a Standard material to the Wall object, and adjust the Depth Offset slider.

Hmm, that's quite a labour-intensive way of doing it. You should try the method I've described above; it's quite straightforward if you already have the wave pattern texture that you want to use.
