Dear Lumion users,

This is just to let you know that version 6.0.1 of Lumion, Lumion Pro and Lumion Viewer has been released.

We'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support, feedback, error reports and patience since Lumion 6.0 was released. Version 6.0.1 is primarily a maintenance update, and we hope the error fixes and changes will make Lumion even better and easier to use.

Best regards from all of us at Act-3D!

Please read the release notes below to see what has changed.

DOWNLOADING LUMION 6.0.1
Licensed customers will receive an email with download instructions within the next 24 hours (please check your Spam folder on your email account). Please note that the email will be sent to the email address that was used when Lumion 6 was purchased, so if you work for a large organisation you may have to ask the person who bought Lumion to forward the email to you.

If you haven't received the email within 24 hours, please forward your Lumion 6 license number and purchase receipt to [email protected], so they can send you another email.

COMPATIBILITY
Please note that scenes and LS6 files saved in 6.x are NOT backwards compatible with earlier versions.

If you try to load scenes or imported model files made with Lumion 4.x or earlier, you will have to remove and re-assign all materials and Movie/Photo effects in Lumion 6.0.1.

IMPORTANT: AUTOCAD & DWG IMPORT UPDATE
1) If you use AutoCAD or DWG files, please click here to download and install the latest version of the DWG to Lumion Bridge software.

2) Please download the attached file (DWG_Hotfix_for_6.0.1_Unzip_in_3rd_Folder.zip) and unzip it in the "3rd" folder in the Lumion 6.0.1 installation folder (Choose "Overwrite"). This fixes a couple of issues for two user-submitted DWG files.

LUMION 6.0.1: RELEASE NOTES

COMPATIBILITY
Please note that scenes and LS6 files saved in 6.x are NOT backwards compatible with earlier versions.

MIGRATING SCENES FROM LUMION 4.5.1 AND 5.0
Lumion 5.3 and newer allow users to configure a different combination of effects for each photo in Photo mode. The introduction of this feature in 5.3 means that older projects load with an empty list of effects in Photo mode. If you want to apply the same set of effects to photos in Lumion 6.0.1, simply save the effects in Photo mode in Lumion 4.5.1 or Lumion 5.0 and load the effect file in 6.0.1 via the context menu button above the effect stack.

If you try to load scenes or imported model files made with Lumion 4.x or earlier, you will have to remove and re-assign all materials and Movie/Photo effects in Lumion 6.0.1.

CHANGES & RESOLVED ERRORS

BUILD MODE
  • Clip Plane: PureGlass materials are now getting clipped correctly.
  • There is no longer a bright gap along the horizon when viewing a night scene from high altitude.
  • The model placement arrow has been replaced by a new pointer with orthogonal axes.
  • Certain effects are no longer transferred to Build mode after visiting Movie mode -> Entire Movie.
  • Spotlight brightness has been tweaked. You may need to adjust the intensity when loading your scenes in 6.0.1.
  • Default exposure has been tweaked. You may need to adjust the emissive materials and the Lensflare effect when loading your scenes in 6.0.1.
  • Grass: 3D grass now blends better in the distance, both on the native Lumion terrain and on imported models that use the Landscape material.

MOVIE/PHOTO MODE
  • Rasterisation on Print/Poster resolution renderings has been dramatically reduced.
  • Reflection effect: The sun now appears in planar reflections on PureGlass materials.
  • Reflection effect: Shadows on the terrain no longer temporarily disappear in reflections during rendering of some sub-frames.
  • Fog effect: The default horizon fog is now less dark.
  • Fog effect: Tinting fog in night scenes now works as expected again.
  • Sun effect: The glare from the sun is now smaller by default.
  • Cloud effect: The Cloud Brightness slider now works as expected again.
  • Depth of Field effect: The "Auto focus" crosshair object is now a uniform size, regardless of the distance to the camera.
  • The sky and clouds are now updated correctly after pasting effects from Photo mode to Movie mode.

PHOTO MODE
  • Teleporting very long distances (by right-clicking) is now working as expected.

MODEL LIBRARY
  • In Imported Model libraries with lots of models, the sub-page icons are now smaller so that they do not overlap the search field any more.
  • MotorBike_002: The wheels now spin again when the motorcycle is moved around.
  • The driver and passengers in Bus_001 and Bus_002 are now also affected by the Lights slider. For this to work, the driver and passengers are always visible from now on.

MATERIAL EDITOR
  • Emissive materials no longer affect exposure, so the brightness of surroundings are unaffected in scenes with emissive materials.
  • Emissive materials with low Emissive slider values can now be reflective again.
  • PureGlass material scales are no longer being reset when adding a material to a different surface in the model.
  • Material selection is now also possible in a rectangular area outside the material window on the left side of the screen.
  • The colour of rim reflections on metals is now based on the base material colour.

SOUND
  • Sound effect: WAV files with non-English file names now play as expected.
  • Sound effect: WAV file audio is now included in MP4s rendered in Lumion (Standard).

  • Localization: GPU/CPU scores on the Benchmark screen are now also translated correctly.
