I see some great metal chrome materials on your models, as on plumbing-faucets, Can I add this material to my models, which of all is this?... Thanks...

Hi Kurgan, this is not available in the Material Library. However, you can easily turn a Standard material into a chrome material.

Just unzip the attached cylinder model to Documents/Lumion 2/Library and study the material settings that I've used.

Hi jlnsvfx, materials are tied to individual surfaces, so you can't assign a custom material to multiple surfaces - it's a known limitation in Lumion.

In other words, you'll have to learn how to make the chrome material yourself. Here's how:

1) Move the chrome model to the Library folder
2) Restart Lumion
3) Add the chrome model to your scene
4) Edit the material
5) Experiment with the material settings, so that you know how to replicate it.

Hi Morton
I added your model in the scene and result was awful - too dark surface (exept end) without reflexes and so on and i could not change it, but may be it was a consequence of bad surrounding.

Well, that depends on where you want to use the chrome material.

The attached model above looks ok in the nighttime bathroom demo scene as you can see on the screenshot.

If you want a fully reflective (and brighter) chrome surface for use in exterior scenes, just lower the Reflection Falloff slider to your liking.

Hi Morten, I cannot open the file in my Lumion (free version).
I put it in the "library" of "My Documents", that's right?
But when I start Lumion, I try to load the file, but nothing appears.
Maybe I can't open because I'm using Lumion free version, am I right?
Thanks

Hi Jota Coxa, that depends on which version of Lumion Free you're using:

LUMION FREE 1
C:\Users\Username\Documents\LumionFree\Library

LUMION FREE 2
C:\Users\Username\Documents\LumionFree 2\Library

Remember to restart Lumion after adding the Chrome model to the Library folder.

Can you update this sample for Lumion 3? I'd like to see how this is done. Thanks.

I downloaded the material and it seems to work good with V3.2
I will give three results.

First is the material Morten made
Second is a method using the glass material
Third is using the Standard material with reflectivity up Gloss up and some other adjustments.

You just got to play with the sliders.

How did you get it into Lumion 3? I put it into my library folder, but it wasn't there to open up in Lumion?

Really, I would just like to know what settings to use to create a chrome material.

Its a model that has the material attached. If you go to import model tab it will be there, its a round tube.

I will take a screen shot of the settings for you.
