CPU BENCHMARKING incongruence

HI, IM LOOKING TO UPGRADE MY GRAPHICS CARD BUT I CAME ACROOS WITH AN UNUSUAL SITUATION.}

Searching for some info about performance I found a benchmark from a lumion forum´s member who has a CPU i7-3770 a Gforce TITAN and 16GB ram.

What catched my attention was that according to CPUBOSS (a comparative website for cpu and gpu as you may know).

The 3770 and the 4770 (wich i have) are practically identical in performance, but in the benchmark from lumion I got almost the half score than the forum member.

Besides graphic card we have same specs. So Im looking for a gtx750Ti, woudl it make any difference in the benchmark for my cpu?

I´m attatching screenshots from my benchmark and the comparative chart of cpuboss

The bottle neck is most likely your motherboard not the CPU. You need to make sure it supports the latest PCI3.

Hi markoz305

Lumion Benchmarks for your CPU range from 1980 to 2320, most as 2320.  So you should expect your CPU to come in around those figures.

It's not easy to determine why you get such a big difference.  As Pauldavis mentions, the motherboard could be an issue. What motherboard do you have?

You would need to run other benchmarking n the CPu to see what results you get, and compare those to reported averages etc.  We refer people to Passmarks for GPU scores, so you could run their Passmark tool (free 30 day Trial, or buy).

Your current GPU is well below minimum recommendations for Lumion.  Passmark 362, min 1500.  The GPU is the most important component as Lumion does most of the work on the GPU, not the CPU.

Refer further:
1.  LUMION 4: Minimum hardware requirements.

2.  Lumion Web Site: Specifications.

3.  Passmark: Videocard Benchmarks.

The GTX 750 Ti has a Passmark of 3694.

Lumion 4 free.
Motheboard Its A GIGABYTE ga-b85m-d3h.
I want the 750ti because its the onlyone in budget with greatest passmark and that supports my powersupply.

Also i want to know how much does pci version can deminish my performance?

I have another pc a XPS 9000 with a intel core i7-920 at 2.66ghz but tHe motherbard is a X501H wich i think is first version of pci express and i might buy another 750ti for that one later.

That motherboard supports pci 3 as long as you use slot 1 on the mother board.

1.1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x16 (PCIEX16)
 * For optimum performance, if only one PCI Express graphics card is to be installed, be sure to install it in the PCIEX16 slot.
(The PCIEX16 slot conforms to PCI Express 3.0 standard.)

If you are using the other pcie x16 it will be slower.

The version of PCI you are running the card on will make a huge difference. what graphics card and how much ram do you have in your pc right now?

By the way i forgot to thank you for your inmediate response I´m glad you have that kidn of careness fo your costumers.

v4.5.1

Pauldevis by now i have 8ram in the dell but i will improve it to 12-16 the graphics card is a ati radeaon but it is also a very simple card with 1gb it dosnt even figures in the passmark test haha. Thats why i want the 750ti and the power supply its a 470w, so it only allows me as much as a gtx 660 but the diference isn enought to pay more.

Ok cool. Just remember to use the right graphics card slot. Slot two isn't as fast as slot 1 on your board.

Also, don't by more ram to add to what you have. That's pretty much the fastest way to make a pc unstable. You need to buy a complete matching set that is equal to the amount of ram you want to add. so don't buy another 8 and add it to your existing ram to get 16. Or buy two sets of 8 to get 16. If you do you are asking for BSODs. If you want 12 or 16 by a complete set that adds up to that amount.

I had a 660 and a 750 in mine for a while and Lumion was certainly useable with both. But I would look to see if you can afford any gtx X70 card. so 570 or 670. Those last two digits make a big difference.
