Hello, I am new to Lumion and some questions might already have been answered in the forum...


Anyway, I saw several Lumion videos and people talking about it (found about it on SKetchucation)

I am downloading the demo (my connection is pretty slow today)

I noticed in the videos that you change the sun position by just setting its direction and its height.

but what if I want the PROPER sun positioning relative to the model geographic location? If I want to show a client an animation of how the sun interacts with his house?? Unless the videos dont show it properly, I think the Lumion team should seriously consider (since they ARE doing the program for architects and community) to include proper geographical location sun positioning, and users change the TIME of the day (instead of sun height) and the sun moves accordingly, in the correct location.



also, I am using a Q9300, 4gb and a Geforce 9600 GT... but I am soon moving to a i7 2600, 8gb with a Geforce GTX460. Will my new config be good enough to run Lumion??


Finally, I read Lumion does not have lights (besides the sun) yet. Do developers plan to implement them? Point lights? IES Lights (fake of course)? Rectangular Lights? Spots? The ability to create a television image that illuminates itself (and even the enviroment around it) is very important btw.

I also read there will be a so called Tutorial 4, on how to somehow create fake lights. It was an old topic. Has this tutorial already been released? Where can I get it?

A 460 GTX is fine for Lumion. Right now we didn't finish the exact sun position but we will implement it soon. We have created plans for advanced lighting. We will keep our goal of fast renders so while you might create great images we won't re-create vray accuracy. Rather we go for easy to use and still fast to render lights. You will have to wait a bit for the new release with these features.

Thanks Ferry. What exactly do you consider as "wait a bit"? 6 months? 1 year? 2 years?

It is always hard to set dates since people will expect it. However we are talking months not years.
