I don't know. That's a question for Ferry/Arthur/Remko.

Okay.  Thank you.

Hypothetically speaking:
Would there be discounts to someone if they could get a
major international university (50,000+ students) to invest in Lumion for their computer labs?

I guess a better question would be
- how many copies would someone have to have this university invest in, in order to acquire a free upgrade (for a year or two or as long as the University keeps buying new copies - year after year after year and more and more and more copies)?

Or anyone for that matter.  If I recommend to 5, 4 or 3 people they purchase it and they do with my name as the recommender for the purchase could I get an upgrade?

This has been discussed before but never fully clarified.
Maybe it is too personal for open discussion.

Course I do see some issues with the way Lumion is currently set up as a program being used on University machines.
Activation and deactivation button would be a problem right off the bat so maybe it is not even possible unless there was an institutional version of the software.

I'm just curious.  Talk is cheap ya know.   :)

Just to clarify with the upgrading from Lumion 1 with three plugins to Lumion 2, the cost would be £399 GBP but this would include the three plugins (or their equivalent) working in Lumion 2?

That's what it looks like Simoni.  I was wondering the same thing.
The plug-ins are not fully upgradeable.  I thought they were too.
They don't just come along for the simple basic price as an upgrade for free.

Can we get patches that only contain the fixes and not the complete program and it's libraries?

I'm also having severe issues with the "object clipping" in the V2 build 1 where trees and cars aren't drawn properly until they are about 10 meters away from the camera, and objects in the imported model are being drawn on top of stuff in front of them, like trees etc.
By chance I saw there was a new build available (2,4 gigs to download :( ) so I'm hoping this will fix the issues.

We're still looking for programs which will allow us to make good patches. Is there any chance you can grab a movie of this problem you describe. Also please tell us the driver and gpu type.

Sorry, forgot I had posted in this thread. Most of the object clipping issues seem to have gone away with the new build (L2B2), so I guess you guys already knew there were some issues regarding this (or just pure luck on my part). The video file is rather large and while not strictly under any nda, I'm not sure the client would like it being posted.
Other than that I'm one of those that still run xp64, with a Asus Geforce GTX 470 1280mb, driver version 280.26

Regarding future patching, there are few thing that beat a proper silent and invisible auto-patcher that downloads in the background through bits or some other non intrusive way. Still manual patches of 10-50 megs are still preferable to DVD size updates. One other thing that bugs me regarding this is the fact that each build also wants to install as a separate program. Why are they not all just installing into ..\program files\Lumion\...... and then if existing files are an issue, askt the user if one wants to uninstall the previous version?

There are several reasons for this. First of all some people want to have multiple versions installed just in case there's an incompatibility or something like that. If we have to ensure 100% exact compatibility between versions it would heavily restrict our ability to improve Lumion so there will always be minor differences between versions. Second, we create a whole package to ensure a complete and accurate upgrade. If you removed or modified something in your old version this modification is transferred to the new version and the new version might be broken with this change. A complete package ensures 100% integrity.

What would probably work is a small installer which has the ability to upgrade an old version to a new one an while doing this checks the integrity of the new version. This way you know for sure Lumion was patched properly. We haven't found a program or install system yet which can do this so we'll probably have to do it ourselves. I'll try and look if we can do something NSIS. Essentially it's a matter of finding the files with changes and only packaging those.

Play around with your demo samples. It is so interesting, I can get even more impressive results with some post processing.

I wondered would we have custom or very good preset post-filter which improved artistic/realistic aspects automatically oneday.

Thanks for such a great product,
Ming
